She loves Logan, but she can’t deny her connection with the totally supportive, totally gorgeous Zachary. And she’s not sure that she wants to. Logan and Zachary will fight to be the one by her side, but Aura needs them both to uncover the mystery of her past—the mystery of the Shift.
As Aura’s search uncovers new truths, she must decide whom to trust with her secrets…and her heart. –Goodreads

I’ve gotta tell ya – I was so happy to be able to go right into Shift after finishing Shade Series. I’ve never been big on purchasing audiobooks unless they were on sale – I usually download from the library – but this one I downloaded right away without a second thought. Everything about these books are amazing and I just love them so much! Khristine Hvam does an amazing job of narrating the story and I absolutely love to hear her read it. And I’ve never been a big ghost story reader but after these books I’ve been reading them like crazy. (I finished this audio back in September – I just skipped reviewing it somehow but I just wanted to share my love for this series.)

Shift picks up a few months after Shade’s ending – after Logan didn’t cross over and Aura still trying to deal with this and make sure he’s okay. What happens next is a story of love and letting go and heart ache and seeking the truth. Smith-Ready has written an incredible series that will have you experiencing every emotion possible. I really don’t think I’ve ever had so many emotions while reading a book – this one definitely takes the cake.

The world of pre and post shifters that Smith-Ready has created is intriguing and there is so much mystery behind it – mystery that Aura and Zachary must try to figure out since they are effected the most by it.

I love the characters in Shift. Aura is your typical teenage girl struggling with letting go of her first love while trying to deal with a new, complicated relationship that doesn’t go exactly how she would’ve liked. I love Logan and Zachary (Zachary a little more..) and you can sympathize with Aura – her first love died – she needs to move on – but it’s hard when he still haunts her. Smith-Ready makes the characters real and believable – they do things that typical teenagers would do in their situations regardless of how infuriated it will make the reader. I also loved getting to know Dylan (Logan’s younger brother) more. He is someone that witnessed a horrible thing – and he has to deal with that – along with his older siblings, Mickey and Siobhan.

The audiobook of Shift is FANTASTIC. Like I said, Hvam does an amazing job of reading the book and bringing it to life. I love the voices she uses and the accent she does for Zachary is excellent. I will definitely be acquiring Shine on audio if she is reading it.

If you haven’t picked up Shade and Shift, you are missing out. There were so many people on Twitter buzzing about it that I finally gave in to the hype (even though I thought I would hate it) and I’m so glad I did. If you can get the audio from your library, read it that way – you will not be disappointed.
